Our mission is to share the joy of singing and all the mental and physical benefits that come with it. To spread love and friendship, to encourage and support, to inspire and motivate, to create laughter and community.

We're not just a choir, we're a family (we know, so cheesy..) who share each other's highs and lows, help each other to grow as people, and get together once a week to sing.

OUR STORY

Relight My Choir was born in February 2019 from the desire by founder Gem Rose to relight the notion of what a 'choir' was. She wanted to create something that was accessible for all and would garner interest from people who loved to sing but weren't interested in the 'stuffy' stereotype of groups of people wearing the same top, singing the same cliche songs, overseen by a stern choir mistress..

The emphasis at RMC is firmly fixed on fun first. It's a time and place where grown ups can escape the stresses and banalities of everyday life, do something for themselves, and release those happy hormones that come from singing and laughing with friends.

You won't find the same old songs on our set list, you won't get told off for giggling in rehearsals, if you're not great at singing in harmony - sing the melody, if you fancy yourself as a bit of a mover - we'll throw in some choreography for you, simple as that.

Maximum enjoyment. No pressure.

GEM ROSE

Relight My Choir Leader

Having trained in dance from the age of 3, Gem came to singing much later in life, starting lessons at the Southern School of Popular Singing in her early 20s. Over the last two decades she has performed across the globe to audiences of up to 30,000 people, and counted celebs such as Professor Stephen Hawking among her fans, having performed at his house on a number of occasions (which she hardly ever mentions...).

Now, wanting to share her passion for performing, she runs Relight My Choir alongside her regular solo and group performances, tribute acts to Lady Gaga, Pink, and Abba, teaching singing lessons online and offline, and enjoying far too much of her lovely husband's equally lovely home cooking.
